Vision & Mission Statement

A diverse, welcoming, Catholic Community committed to discipleship and stewardship. The Mission of St. Joseph Church is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ by word and deed, to build a Christian community of faith within and beyond the parish, to serve the people of God both near and far, and to celebrate the presence of the Risen Lord among us.

PATRIS CORDE PRAYER

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,

Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only son;

in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,

show yourself a father

and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,

and defend us from every evil. Amen.

From the Apostolic Letter of Pope Francis on the 150th Anniversary of the Proclamation of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church.

Pastor's Note

Welcome to Our Parish Community

Thank you for visiting our St. Joseph website. I hope that you will find the site inviting and informative.

St. Joseph Parish has been a part of the Springfield, Illinois community since 1875 and is still a vibrant faith community. The faith community is a very welcoming one. Our liturgy is prayerful and truly a source of nourishment for the community. Our commitment is to ongoing faith formation for all ages. We offer faith formation opportunities for pre-school children, children attending public schools, and teens. There are offerings for adults throughout the year as well as small church communities. Our RCIA process is a very rich resource for those looking into our Catholic faith. Our social ministry is a dynamic one, involving opportunities for the practice of charity and justice within our community and the world.
